English 11
Course:          English 11 (1150)
Grade:            11
Prerequisite:   Successful completion of English 10
Credit:            1
Instructor:      Artise Gill

Description:   English 11 is a required course, which includes the critical analysis and evaluation of relationships among American literature, history, and culture. Analysis of literary themes, movements and genre, vocabulary development, application of the information management process, the study of grammar, and oral communication skills are incorporated into this course. Instruction in narrative, analytical, expository, technical, and persuasive compositions reinforces skills studied in the grammar and literature units. The development of an independent reading program is required. The course requires the external completion of a documented research paper.   (see additional requirements for more information).

Additional Requirements:
Students are required to complete the required research paper.   This mandates some in-person meetings at a library with the course instructor.   These dates will be presented to the students at orientation.     Credit for the online course will not be issued unless the student successfully completes the tutorial and research paper component.
